Whispering Age Cancellation

I canceled my game Whispering Age for a few reasons. Let me start from the beginning before I go through my reasons, though. I started Whispering Age as an idea that kept playing on my mind. A game where you try to control your units by chatting to them! This was the basis of it all, but I didn't go any further with the game mechanics which was silly looking back.
ChatGPT was new, and I wanted to try and use that for the back-and-forth. It worked pretty well, but using ChatGPT is pretty controversial when speaking with devs & artists, so it didn't help with the promotion. On top of this, I would need to pay for API costs, which increased a lot when it came to dynamically generating text to speech.
It all became too much, and I lost ambition with it, sadly. I was thinking I'd still go ahead and make a basic version, but I think my heart wasn't in it at that point, so I didn't want to release something where I wasn't improving on my last game.
I learned a lot from the project and don't regret starting it. I learned that I should keep my games simple and without much risk, given that this is a hobby. Planning out and focusing on gameplay is a must when working on my next solo game. Right now, I'm focusing on making games with my friends for AMP Games!
