Social Media & The Reaction Hellscape

The current state of affairs is pretty dang depressing. I don't think we've completely lost it in the UK, though we do have our issues. With the biggest social media companies enabling lies, this is how we actually get an authoritarian government.
It's wild that a lot of the discussion leading to this point was the worry of something like this happening. I'm not here to blame a single person; we all need to take responsibility for how we've contributed to this problem. The algorithms are always trying to get a reaction from us which can vary in severity. We need to start admitting that the algorithms are bleeding this from us, it's hard to notice most of the time but we don't admit when it's happening and even when we do; we still end up acting on the reaction.
I'm going to avoid adding to the problem by avoid using big social media platforms. I was hoping that other big tech companies would step up and try to figure out how we go in a better direction, but I've not seen that. Only that they're going to make the situation worse.
I've got a lot of feelings & thoughts about this, so I just wanted/needed to brain dump. I really hope things get better even in our current state. I just feel it's very unlikely right now. I'm going to keep updating on here rather than on the current social media platforms for the above reasons. I know that means it'll mostly go into the void, but that's alright with me. I'll make sure I'll have a game development related blog next time!
